These crabs are abundant on reefs and rocky shores, preferring disturbed and Sargassum covered areas. Their shaggy appearance helps break their natural outline. They feed mainly on larger algae during low tide. (Shell width up to 4cm).
This hardy and adaptable species prefers rocky areas with muddy substrates. They feed on any available animal matter. (Shell width up to 2cm).
