Red Egg Crab Atergatis integerrimus Family Xanthidae Order Decapoda These are coral reef. dwellers, being found under rocks or in crevices at low tide. The red egg crab can grow to large sizes (width of up to 10cm). Small specimens (probably juveniles) have a white margin around the front and lateral margins. A smaller green species, A. floridus is rarer and known to be poisonous. Both species are basically herbivorous, and should not be eaten.
