These are abundant on moist sand, under algae, debris, among fouling organisms, etc. They are scavengers. When disturbed, they flex their abdomen violently, giving them the appearance of jumping, hence their common name. They are easily recognised by their laterally flattened body. (Length up to 0.5cm).
