|Kingdom Animale | Phylum Mollusca | Class Bivalvia|
This mussel is often confused with Glauconome, but commands lower market prices. The green mussel is farmed commercially and is often sold dried. It prefers the brackish waters in estuaries and mangroves. It attaches to hard substrates such as mangrove roots, fishing poles and other man-made structures by means of whitish adhesive threads (byssus). (Length 3-10cm).
