Family Elysidae

Unlike other related slugs which have posteriorly positioned gills, those in Elysia have completely disappeared and it breathes through its thin body surface instead. It feeds on green algae (e.g., Ulva), sucking out the contents. Its coloration is derived from the chloroplasts of the algae it eats. (Length 1.5-2.5cm).
