Melongena pugilina Melongena pugilina Family Galeodidae This snail used to be common on local sandy and muddy shores, and was much sought after for food. It is predaceous and lays characteristic eggs like those of the muricids. The siphonal canal (posterior projection) can sometimes extend to great lengths in larger specimens. (Shell 7-10cm).
