Clusterwinks
or Periwinkle Shells Family Littorinidae These are the most common shells on the supralittoral hard substrates, feeding on algae and lichens. The two most common genera, are Littoraria and Nodilittorina. Nodilittorina can tolerate a greater degree of heat and exposure, and can thus always be found higher up on the rocks compared to Littoraria. In temperate countries, periwinkles are sometimes cooked in soup.
