Moss animals are colonial in habit, small and easily missed.
They are often confused with hydroids.

Acanthodesia
Each animal lives in a small cup-like structure (zooid) with a "cap" and has a ring of tentacles through which it generates water currents to bring in small food particles. They are typical encrusting and fouling organisms. (Colonies 1-5cm across).
