NoctilucaOrder Dinoflagellida Noctiluca is a one-millimetre long protozoan which flashes a bright greenish-white light when mechanically disturbed by wave action or boats moving through the water. The phenomenon is called bioluminescence. This light is especially evident on dark nights. Mussel shrimps also produce bioluminescence. |
