Probably the most common brown algae on rocky shores, Sargassum often cover extensive stretches.

They are easily recognised by the air-filled bladders (vesicles) which help keep the plant body afloat. They are commonly washed up on the shore, especially after storms. (Leaf 1-5cm in length).
