ICCS: Pandan Mangroves Recce
Rashmi & Chen Kee, 25 July 2004: morning

Location and Accessibility: This patch of mangrove vegetation lies on both sides of the lagoon, as can be viewed from the Buroh bridge (Fig 1 and Figure 2).The mangroves lying on the eastern side of the lagoon along the West Coast Highway are not easily accessible due to road expansion and construction taking place in this particular area. The presence of a small boat yard further obstructs accessibility. However the mangrove patch on the western banks can be accessed along Jalan Buroh right besides the Pandan Reservoir. (See Fig 2 A,B,C).

Meeting Point:
A small patch of green lying at the junction of the Reservoir and lagoon can be a possible meeting point as well as waste collection point for future cleanup operations.

Conclusion of survey: Negligible Trash Load
The mangrove patch inspected did not reveal the presence of any waste/plastics etc. Hence it is recommended that no major cleanup operation is required for this area, for 2004 and hopefully for more years to come.
