ICCS: Changi Beach Extension Recce
Patrick Neo, 8 Sep 2003: Morning

I just came back from the beach and I think we need a minor change to meeting point.

The beach is still as extensive and "dirty" - counted four tyres (those huge ones - I think used by small lorries), granite table top, wooden table frame and lots of our friend, the plastic bottle. I think we can get a good workout counting and weighing the rubbish this year.

One minor problem, someone is working on the little creek just by carpark 6 (our original meeting point) - it effectively divides our beach into the one immediately by the park and the rest - this is due to the worksite. They are filling in the creek and seem to building a break-water. I managed to cross the worksite because the barrier was drawn aside - I suspect this was due to the fact that the SAF was using that stretch for a road run. It may be sealed up on the actual clean-up day.

I would like to propose that we change the meeting point to carpark 7 (Changi Ferry Terminal) - they have a huge carpark and the stretch of beach is enough to occupy us for the morning. Only set-back is that for those taking SBS bus, the bus-stop is still at the SAF Ferry terminal and you need to walk about 20 minutes to get to the beach if the worksite is cordoned off.
