The surviving mangrove forest in the south. The site of A. J. Berry's research and famous paper of 1963: "Faunal zonation in mangrove swamps" which appeared in the Bulletin of the National Museum, Singapore Vol 32, pp. 90-98.

The journal also survived, albeit as the Raffles Bulletin of Zoology.
